acciohedwig:

I’m gushing over this edition of Pride and Prejudice I found at my local thrift store. I am in love with it. adfhksdj

Oh! Oh! Oh! We have the exact same book at home! Also bought from a thrift store (not sure if Booksale or Bookay-Ukay)!

I know that feeling; it’s like catching a rare/shiny/legendary Pokémon. Jackpot. ;D

A Hike Through Dickens

newyorker:

Reading projects of this old-fashioned sort are the equivalent of a long pilgrimage on foot. The pace and the proddings of modern life, forever segmenting one’s existence into smaller and busier intervals, counsel against them. On the other hand, those patient, reproachful, grandpaternal voices continue to mutter on your bookshelf. And they say, Start walking.

Brad Leithauser on big reading projects, and his journey through all of Charles Dickens’s fiction:

Nice article. Makes me want to read David Copperfield.

I noticed that some of the prettybooks posts and reblogs are basically stacks of books with little or no relation to each other, taken by a good-quality camera. Bottom line: the camera often does it. Wait ‘til I have one; I’ll stack my science textbooks and say they’re prettybooks. Well, they really are pretty books.

Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, because I personally believe that it’s hard to conceptualize a whodunit, yet he was able to pull it off.

4. Favorite book

Extreme Pokémon: The Guide for the Ultimate Fan by Mike Teitelbaum

This is my favorite book because:

  1. It’s about Pokémon
  2. This is the first book I bought when I was in high school (from my own allowance), from the book sale section in Vetaf’s Store in Balanga, Bataan. Actually, that’s where I also bought some of my Pokémon books (movie tie-ins of Mewtwo Strikes Back, Pokémon the Movie 2000, and Spell of the Unown), and that’s the place that showed me the wonders of book sales.

Currently Reading: ‘Percy Jackson and the Olympians’ Series

Just because I don’t have Internet or TV in the apartment yet. :P I’m now at the 4th installment.

Hey, if you want to be acquainted with Greek mythology without reading Edith Hamilton’s book or the original Greek lit, this series is good enough for you to know who’s who in the said mythology.
